Click here (HistoryChannel) to watch the introductory portion of Who Wrote the Bible?, a program that delves into questions and complexities surrounding the sacred scriptures...
Do the approach and tone of this program strike you as being more critical or confessional? Why so?
My class load is heavier than I am used to this semester. Even though I took this class mostly for credits and brain candy. I am going to try to stick it out
The program seems to be mostly critical, but some of the comments strike me as confessional.
The approach of the program seems more critical. From the start the program goes into a debate on what is considered the first original text of the Bible, in this case they are suggesting that it was five books of Moses, but there is an issue that there was some human interference involved.
There seems to be a defensive argument between Christian and Jewish beliefs of the first writings of the original Bible. One believing that the Gospels came first, while the other believing the five books of Moses came first. Very difficult to understand with such a vast span of history from our present day to really know the true answer.
I dont feel like this program was confessing anything or trying to defend a religion, but just shedding some information about the bible that many people don't get to hear about. It seemed to me to be more informational with some critical tones to it.
